About Me

Tommy Byrd

I'm a Solutions Engineer at GitHub.  Prior to that I worked mainly on the infrastructure side of cloud computing, managed Exchange Servers and built websites.  In my spare time I'm into everything audio/visual.  I take photos, shoot films, write and produce music, and am part of the crazy team of volunteers that make Dragon Con TV happen every labor day weekend.

Supporting GitHub in the Southeast, I act as the technical resource for sales teams in the region. This manifests itself by working with customers on the journey to having a more modern software development lifecycle. Typically this means explaining how distributed version control and CI/CD processes can help them delivery better software, faster.

Lead Sales Engineeer

CenturyLink Business

In support of the Global East region, I helped design and implement complex network, hosting and cloud solutions for some of the largest accounts in Georgia and Alabama. I also created training material and regularly educated sales teams about new cloud technologies and how they could benefit clients.

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

CBeyond [acquired by Birch Communications]

Responsible for helping customers plan and execute migrations to our managed cloud. During my time here I have been involved both during pre-sales as a solutions engineer and during post-sales helping execute complex application migrations.

Product Specialist IV

As one of the lead product specialists for Dell's Enterprise Solutions Group supporting the Global Commercial Channel, my primary role was training and consulting with Dell channel partners on how to sell servers, storage and networking products.

Audio & Video Production Experience

dTb Media

Started in 2012, I produce & direct music videos, commercials, documentaries and short films. Videos produced by the team I work with have hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, but we've also created TV commercials for political candidates and promo videos for local musicians.

Director of Broadcast

Dragon Con, Inc (DCTV)

Dragon Con is the largest pop-culture convention in the South East. Held on Labor Day weekend every year in Atlanta, I work all year producing content for the closed circuit TV network we setup at the con. I orchestrated the first ever live stream of their parade in 2014, which is the largest parade in Atlanta and the second largest in the state of Georgia.

Freelance Audio Engineer/Producer

With a major in Audio Engineering and a minor in Music, I've worked on everything from cinematic movie scores to rap to alternative rock in 5.1 surround sound. More recently I've been spending my time producing my own music and doing remixes.
