I’m starting a new job this week and my last job let me leave a few days early after giving my two weeks notice. On top of that, after a failed BIOS update my desktop won’t boot. This left me with 6 days off in a row and no computer to work on. I was originally going to go down to see my parents, but they were getting ready to go on a cruise and I really wanted to get some photos of the fall colors, so I decided to take a trip to the mountains.
After a little research, I found a place called the Peaks of Otter in Bedford, VA. I was pretty excited by the “unapologetic absence of phones or televisions in the rooms”. I tend to be very connected to everything all the time, so taking a couple of days to relax, hike and take photos without interruption was really nice.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip. It took about an hour to hike to the peak, but these views made it worth every minute.
I was also treated to a very clear night so I spent some time star gazing too.
